Storage Tips
To refrigerate berries:
- Sort blackberries prior to storage. Use or dispose of any bruised, soft or discolored berries
- Store un-washed berries as soon as possible in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Blackberries should be used 1-3 days of purchase.
- Rinse blackberries just before serving.
To freeze berries:
- Place fresh berries in colander; wash under gentle stream of cool water.
- Lay berries on a dishtowel in a single layer, allowing them to air dry.
- To prevent berries from drying in a solid clump, first freeze them on a cookie sheet until frozen solid, then pour into plastic bags and immediately re-freeze.
To un-freeze berries:
- Place berries in colander, and colander in large bowl.
- Cover with fresh cool water
- When thawed, remove colander with berries from bowl, and allow to drain. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.
